Even after being with Jesus for three and half years and hearing Him mention repeatedly that He would die and rise again. The disciples never believed His resurrection.
Mark 16:11 And they, when they had heard that he was alive, and had been seen of her, believed not.
Mark 16:12, 13 After that he appeared in another form unto two of them, as they walked, and went into the country. And they went and told it unto the residue: neither believed they them.
Luke 24:11 And their words seemed to them as idle tales, and they believed them not.
Mark 16:14 Afterward he (Jesus) appeared unto the eleven as they sat at meat, and upbraided them with their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they believed not them which had seen him after he was risen.
After all this, Jesus still entrusted the spreading of the gospel and the Kingdom to these types of disciples who failed. Saying to them, ....... Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature” (Mark 16:15).
How could Jesus do this?
Because Jesus alone knew how in His grace He would transform these weak disciples by the power of the Holy Spirit. And that they would go and proclaim the gospel everywhere and He would be working with them and confirming the Word by signs following. He knew that He would be doing everything for these weak ones.
Do you also sometimes sense a wide gap between your present spiritual condition and the fulfilment of God’s original plan in your life? Do you sense that after all these years of believer’s life you are still unfit and unprepared? Sometimes, you feel the visitation is so close but then again some failure creeps in. Don’t lose hope! Jesus will do the same thing for you too. His grace and the power of the Holy Spirit will transform you and He will work through you in these last days! God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty. What God has intended for you will surely come to pass.
Go ahead and worship Him for His grace and mercy.
Faithful is He who called you, who also will do it.
